My Philosophy on Leadership

I believe that leadership should be approached ethically, authentically and with purpose. The road to ethical and authentic leadership is not always an easy one. It has been said that breakdowns often lead to breakthroughs. It is in the midst of those transformative experiences that we come to realize our fullest potential and begin to live a life of purpose.  I believe that those personal breakthroughs are not independent of our professional transformations.  The personal is professional and the professional is personal. When we bring all parts of ourselves, authentically and fully self -examined, into our work as vessels to empower and transform others, that is when we are truly able to LEAP!

What does it take to lead effectively?

Effective leadership first begins with an exercise in leading yourself. This requires a thorough process of examining the assumptions you have about yourself, others and the world. Often, it is our un-examined assumptions that create barriers to realizing our fullest potential as leaders (and as humans). To effectively lead one must be willing to engage in self-examination, confront life’s barriers head-on, and develop the courage to fearlessly create new possibilities for yourself and others.  Essentially, learning to first lead yourself provides you with a powerful foundation for successfully navigating your life professionally and personally.

Reflections

I believe in the power of sharing. My own personal journey in leadership has been filled with many trials and triumphs. My hope is that through my authentic sharing, I can create the space and opportunity for others to “leap” and do the same.
